BBC Video Nation ‘Silk Screens’ Project 2008

Are you Chinese – would you like to make a film about your life with the help of the BBC?

BBC Video Nation and BBC Big Screens are planning a celebration focusing on British Chinese communities in the immediate lead-up to the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

If you are of Chinese origin and living in Britain you might like to make a film about your personal experiences. BBC Video Nation will run three-day workshops and work with individuals to make short films, exploring the lives of Chinese communities in Britain.

You don’t need any special skills to get involved just an interest in telling your story and making a personal film.

3-Day Workshop

We are running one 3-day workshop at the BBC in Glasgow on 12–14 March 2008 between 10 – 4 each day.

Who Will See Your Film?

Your film may be shown on the BBC Big Screens alongside films made for the China Now festival and other Chinese short films. These screenings are planned to take place on 19 July 2008, three weeks before the Olympic Games begin in China.  In Glasgow the BBC is working with outdoor creative event producers to develop and run simultaneous Chinese-themed celebrations to enhance the screening.
